Various chemical additives used in viscose production can be divided into three to four categories.
One is mainly surfactant, which is used in each process of preparing spinning viscose solution. Some of these surfactants are added to cellulose pulp, while others are used in the preparation of alkali cellulose, xanthate or viscose solution. Although the addition function of each process is different, the general purpose is to obtain high-quality viscose and make the spinning smooth. In the production process of viscose fiber, high-quality viscose always means a viscose with less colloidal particles and insoluble fiber and good filtration performance. In addition to surface active compounds, swelling agents such as urea, sodium zincate and thiocyanate are also recommended as viscose additives.
Class II chemical additives are added to the acid spinning bath to keep the precipitates such as sulfur and zinc sulfide dispersed to improve the clarity of the spinning solution. Many quaternary ammonium salts belong to this kind of important surfactants.
The third category is the additives added to the viscose solution, that is, the viscose is added to the viscose before spinning. The physical properties of the fiber spun by the modified viscose are improved (high strength, high wet modulus, etc.). This kind of compound ammonium, its characteristics should be called denaturant. Not all of them have surface activity, and the denaturant with surface activity is mainly the condensate of ethylene oxide and aliphatic derivatives. Non surface active additives are mainly alkyl and cycloalkyl ammonium. An important difference between surface active denaturants and the first two types of surfactants is that the former can only play the role of denaturation after adding a large proportion to viscose, while the latter can improve the quality of viscose by adding only a small amount.
The four types of additives also include some additives used in the post-treatment process of viscose production. For example, some surfactants used in various washing solutions can improve the washing effect. There are also some additives used in the oiling process of products, such as lubricants, emulsifiers, brighteners, antistatic agents, etc.
