Some new preparation types and application methods of glyphosate adjuvants
2022-11-23 16:31:46

Glyphosate additives have been widely used in my country. With the increasing environmental protection requirements, low toxicity to aquatic organisms, improvement of product efficacy, different application purposes and specific market requirements, the impact on glyphosate products The research and development of dosage forms also put forward new requirements accordingly. In order to maintain the competitiveness of the product in the market and adapt to the future market demand, a lot of exploration and research have been carried out in the development and development of suitable glyphosate formulations, and some new formulation types and application methods have emerged, which are more reasonable in production practice. To better apply and improve the drug efficacy, we will briefly introduce the influence of different types of adjuvants on glyphosate preparations, in order to receive greater benefits in the process of formulation development and testing.

Glyphosate additive

Glyphosate is a foliar spray, systemic delivery herbicide. Its herbicidal effect largely depends on the selection of suitable and excellent adjuvants. Adjuvants can help improve the physical and chemical properties of glyphosate formulations, while increasing the herbicidal activity of glyphosate. The main function of the adjuvant is to: reduce the interfacial tension and contact angle between the droplet and the waxy layer on the surface of the leaf, so that the droplet spreads smoothly; enhance the ability of the droplet to penetrate the waxy layer on the surface of the leaf, so that the droplet can smoothly enter the plant or It is to promote the absorption of medicine drops by plants.

Glyphosate is a low-toxic, broad-spectrum, high-efficiency non-selective post-emergence herbicide, which can be transmitted in plants, but it can only be applied to foliar spraying to show herbicidal activity. The main types of additives currently used for glyphosate are: tallow fatty amine ethoxylate, alkyl polyglycoside, fatty alcohol ethoxylate, silicone, betaine, synergist, etc.

It is obtained by polymerization of tallow amine and ethylene oxide. It is by far the most widely used and the oldest (Tallow amine EO 15-20). It is the first to use the glyphosate special additive that is still widely used so far. Tallow amine ethoxylates can not only promote the absorption of glyphosate, but also improve its conduction in the internal tissues of plants. It is worth pointing out that if the adjuvant dose is added properly, the object of use and the conditions are appropriate, it can not only increase the absolute amount of glyphosate transferred in plant tissues, but also increase the amount of glyphosate transferred relative to the intake. Various documents report that Monsanto's glyphosate isopropylamine salt 41% aqueous solution is to use the high conductivity of tallow amine additives to win the market. Specifically, it has good field efficacy, is resistant to rain erosion, has the advantages of obvious synergistic effect, stable low-temperature efficacy, reliable formulation stability, and high cost performance. Has higher toxicity. For this reason, its substitute products have successively appeared on the market in recent years.
