Alkyl glycosides have good wettability in use
2020-05-16 10:49:09

Alkyl polyglucoside (APG) is a new kind of green, mild and non-toxic non-ionic surfactant which has been developed in the world since 1990s. APG has excellent properties, low surface tension, strong detergency, rich foam, fine and stable, no irritation to human skin, complete biodegradation, no pollution to the environment, and many characteristics of non-ionic and anionic surfactants. It is compounded with most surfactants, which can enhance the efficiency of other surfactants, especially in the aspect of ecological safety. Therefore, it is called "green surfactant". However, some long-chain alkyl polysaccharides have poor hydrophilicity, little solubility in water, and great influence on the foaming power by water hardness. They restrict the use of alkyl poly (side), modify alkyl polysaccharides, introduce functional groups, and obtain various unique or better derivatives, which have become the focus of research at home and abroad.

Alkyl glycoside

The application of alkyl glycoside in laundry detergent will improve the antistatic property of laundry, but the effect is not very significant. This is because the hydrophilic group of alkyl glycosides can combine with the water in the air through hydrogen bond to form a conductive channel, which can transfer the charge on the fiber surface, thus improving the antistatic performance of clothing. However, due to the non-ionic nature of alkyl glycosides, the improvement of antistatic performance is not significant. If it is compounded with cationic surfactant, it will produce more significant effect.

APG can improve the softness of fiber, especially cotton fabric. The effect of apg1214 is good, apg0814 is the second, and apg0810 is slightly worse. Apg1214 has a good effect on improving the softness of clothing, which may be due to the main role of alkyl monophosphate. Because of the long alkyl chain and the poor hydrophilicity of dodecyl and tetradecyl monoglycosides, they play a role similar to oil softness, reduce the dynamic and static friction coefficient of clothing, and improve the soft touch. Apg0810 is due to its good wettability, which makes the clothes feel good after use.

The hydrophobic chain length of alkyl glucoside has great influence on the foam properties of the laundry detergent. The addition of alkyl glycoside in the system can reduce the foaming power to a certain extent, which is in line with the development trend of laundry detergent.

Comparing the foam height of the formula added to alkyl glucoside, the foaming property of APG0810 in the system is good, followed by APG1214 and APG0814. The difference of foaming properties makes the technical personnel have greater flexibility in foam adjustment.

The addition of alkyl glucosides in the system can make the laundry liquid produce fine foam, reduce the friction of clothes, and protect clothing, especially for the protection of fine clothing such as silk and wool.
