Organophosphorus flame retardants will gradually replace brominated flame retardants
2020-07-15 16:30:05

The halogen-free flame retardant for PP is a kind of nitrogen phosphorus flame retardant. It is a halogen-free and intumescent flame retardant specially developed for polypropylene. It has good compatibility in polypropylene, has little effect on the mechanical properties of plastics, and has excellent processing stability in the processing process. PP special environmental flame retardant is different from halogen-containing flame retardant. In the process of combustion, dense expanded carbon layer is produced to achieve the purpose of heat insulation and air flame retardant, without irritating hydrogen halide gas and black smoke. It is an environmental friendly flame retardant.

Flame retardant

At present, most of the flame retardants produced in China are directly exported, or after being synthesized and processed, they are exported to developed countries and regions such as Europe, America and Japan in the form of finished products. Take plastics as an example. Around 2012, about 10% of plastics in the world were added with flame retardants. At present, the proportion of flame retardant plastics in plastic products in China is only about 2%, which is lower than the world average level, and even lower than that of developed countries and regions such as Europe and America.

Moreover, compared with developed countries, the proportion of halogenated flame retardants in China's domestic flame retardant market is relatively high. According to the statistics of qianjing.com, the proportion of halogenated flame retardants (chlorinated paraffin and brominated flame retardants) in China reached 40% in 2011, while phosphorus and nitrogen flame retardants accounted for only 17.8%, lower than the global level of more than 20%. With the gradual improvement and enforcement of domestic environmental protection and safety laws and regulations, as well as the global background and trend of halogen-free flame retardants, China's flame retardant industry has a huge development space in terms of market scale and product structure adjustment. It is predicted that in the next few years, the average annual growth rate of domestic phosphorus based flame retardant market will reach more than 15%.

After decades of innovation, hundreds of flame retardants have been developed, and nearly 100 kinds of commonly used flame retardants have been used. According to the different flame retardant elements, flame retardants can be divided into organic flame retardants and inorganic flame retardants. Among them, organic flame retardants are mainly divided into organic halogenated flame retardants and organic phosphorus flame retardants, while organic halogen flame retardants are represented by bromine flame retardants, and inorganic flame retardants are mainly metal oxides such as magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide. Organic phosphorus flame retardants will gradually replace brominated flame retardants. In the development of flame retardants, brominated flame retardants play an important role in the application of flame retardants due to their advantages of high flame retardant efficiency, low dosage and little impact on material properties.
